GTA IV Helpful Info Empty OK, here's some of my helpful hints:

Post  hanner74 May 5th 2008, 18:23

I will start off today with basic controls, why you ask, well they are a bit complicated, and people have been having trouble with them(there were slight changes since the last game)so hopefully I can be some help.
Ps3 controls=Blue Xbox 360 controls=Green

One of the main problems has been cornering, it was always easy to hold the handbrake turn and nail the corners, well now the driving is a bit more realistic and its not quite so easy, I have found the best cars on corners are the sports cars, i.e. the Turismo, the Muscle cars are the ones I personally have had the most trouble with, as some of them seem to have posi traction and slide all over the corners. to effectively make a corner with most cars you will need to use one of the 3 brake buttons(yes there is 3 brake buttons) I usually have found the best one for high speed corners to be R1/Right Bumper although it seems to me that X/A does nearly the same thing(its supposed to be a special handbrake, whatever that means)when you are making a corner turn while releasing the gas then hit the brake, but do not hold it, just give it the slightest little tap right after you start your turn, then about 2/3 of the way through the turn it should be safe to again hit the gas.(sounds simple right? well anyone who has the game knows it aint as easy as it looks, lol!)

But if you are doing slower driving trying not to crash, whether for a mission, or just driving slow to mess around you will want to use the standard brake which is L2/Left Trigger using the other buttons when going slow will more than not make you crash, or just plain stop.

For the muscle cars / rear wheel drive cars it seems the best method may be to just double tap the gas R2/Right Trigger once at the beginning of the turn and once about 2/3 into it.
Good Luck, and keep practicing!

Here's a little more driving help: For the motorcycles, the L2/Left Trigger is the front brake(for stoppies), and R1/Right Bumper or X/A are for the rear brake (for making corners)

Here is my GTA cheats of the day: Any time you're outside, use your cell phone and call these phone numbers to unlock the vehicles listed.

GTA IV Helpful Info Empty Headlights

Post  hanner74 May 7th 2008, 16:29

Thats a good point, I almost forgot about that; If you are driving during the day and then it gets dark you will need to turn on your head lights by holding the Square/X button. And then like gamer said if you hold it again, your brights will come on. It is almost impossible to see in some spots without headlights!

GTA IV Helpful Info Empty getting weapons

Post  hanner74 May 15th 2008, 00:10

I have noticed some people have problems with getting weapons, for example if decide to start screwin around, get arrested and lose your weapons. So .... First easiest thing to do is steal a cop car. When you get into a cop car you get a shotgun with 5 shells, so find one cop car get 5 shells, go to a police station with 3 cop cars get 15 shells......
an easy way to pick up a pistol is to go to the ammunation store where you can purchase guns, but do not but do not buy anything, kill the store guy, he will drop a pistol, take it and run before the cops or his friends show up.
